Pastor Lisa Hoelscher
Pastor Lisa M. Hoelscher grew up in Belton, Texas and later attended Texas A&M University where she graduated with degrees in political science and English. After graduating in 2009, she served in the ELCA’s program Young Adults in Global Mission. She lived in Slovakia for one year while serving in the local Lutheran church accompanying a ministry which serves young Roma women who age out of the orphanage system, doing youth groups, and teaching English. She went on to complete her Master of Divinity in 2019 through Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN, and then served as associate pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg. She has also worked part-time in the Office of the Bishop for the Southwestern Texas Synod in a variety of areas: generosity, disaster response, congregations without called pastors, communications, etc. Her first book was a collection of short stories, poems, and essays titled “Beacon Hunters: signs of light along the way” and was published in 2021. She is passionate about building relationships with people of all ages, helping form disciples, and journeying with people through all of life’s joys and sorrows. Some of her favorite things include The Office, really hard puzzles, trivia, wit, and comfortable shoes.
