Ways to Give

“Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

RECURRING OR ONE-TIME GIFTS

St. Peter’s believes that joyful giving is an essential aspect of discipleship. Whether we give electronically each month or in the offering plate during worship each week, we are reminded to give cheerfully not begrudgingly. We bring offerings, thankfully recognizing that all we give has been first given from God.

E-giving is a convenient and easy way to donate to the mission and ministry of St. Peter’s. You can make a one-time gift or schedule recurring giving. The online portal also enables you to give to specific ministries of the congregation (youth, hunger ministries, Marble Falls Helping Center, etc.). Additionally, you are invited to give online via eCheck to save St. Peter’s the 2.2% credit card fee. Click here to go to our online giving portal.

ENDOWMENT FUND

Nothing is better than a gift that keeps on giving. The Endowment Fund enables St. Peter’s to support and extend the mission of this congregation through wills, life insurance, gift of monies, securities and real estate, and trusts. Through a yearly discernment process, a portion of the Endowment Fund is given away to support the work and ministry of those in our community and around the world. For 2023, the St. Peter’s Endowment Fund dispersed a total of $2,861, split between the Boys & Girls Club and the Southwestern Texas Synod mission.  For more information contact Treasurer and Endowment Committee Member, Coiece Pyle (splctreasurer@splcmf.org).

STOCK CONTRIBUTIONS

If you have appreciated stock that you have owned for at least a year, giving it to St. Peter’s may allow you multiple tax benefits: you may receive a charitable deduction on your income taxes for the stock’s fair market value and avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciated stock value.

IRA DISTRIBUTIONS

If you’re over 70 1/2 years old and have to satisfy a required minimum distributions (RMD) from your IRA each year, consider giving to St. Peter’s and enjoying the extra tax benefit. By authorizing a distribution from one’s IRA, paid directly to St. Peter’s, several St. Peter’s members have found this satisfies the requirements of a “qualified charitable distribution,” earning tax-free treatment. This provision applies to traditional IRAs only, not 401(k)s. If you’d like to give to St. Peter’s from your IRA, please have your distribution made payable to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and sent to St. Peter’s mail address (1803 Highway 1431, Marble Falls, TX 78654), Attn: Coiece Pyle. Please contact our Treasurer, Coiece Pyle (splctreasurer@splcmf.org), if you have questions about giving via stocks or IRAs distributions.
