Seasonally, we have a member information class at St. Peter’s. It is an opportunity to learn more about St. Peter’s, ask questions, meet the pastors and other leaders, and for those interested and ready we look toward / plan together a New Member Sunday date. Our next member information class is on Sunday, September 29, 2024, after the 10:45am worship (12:00pm in the Fellowship Hall). Lunch and child-care will be provided.
What does it mean to be a member of a congregation?
Living in community together is one way Christians respond to the gift of God’s grace and love. Membership in a faith community is a way we partner with others in nurturing faith and life. The church is called to be a safe and supportive place we can all practice being disciples together, for the life of the world. Attending our “Lutheran Lunch” is a great way to learn more about St. Peter’s, the Lutheran tradition, and Christianity, but attendance does not commit anyone to step into membership if he or she does not feel ready.
Regularly we remind our congregation on Sunday morning that we believe the Holy Spirit has gathered us together that morning. Of all the places everyone could be in that moment in time, we all find ourselves together in one place. This includes those who join us in worship online! In the same way, we as St. Peter’s believe God sent you to us when you visited because we believe that the God who lives in community as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, invites people into community.
